Officer Jason M. Engleman

The position of School Resource Officer is just that, a resource.  This officer has three primary responsibilities.  First, since he is a duly sworn police officer he has the responsibility and duty to enforce all Borough ordinances and State laws.  The S.R.O.’s second primary responsibility is as a liason officer between the Milton Police Department and the Milton Area School District.  Both organizations are determined to work together to make the school district a safer more secure learning environment for our children.  Finally, the School Resource Officer can be utilized as an educator.  The days of just checking the doors are over.  It has been learned that the S.R.O. is needed in the classrooms as much as in the hallways.  The S.R.O. can assist the teachers in the classroom by using their training, experience and expertise in a particular police-related field to show the students how the classes topic of discussion is used in real world situations with regards to law-enforcement.

S.R.O. Jason Engleman has been an officer with the Milton Police Department since January of 2000.  Since joining the department he has been involved in many facets of policework to include the following:  patrol, narcotics investigation, criminal investigation, forensic investigation and evidence and property.  S.R.O. Engleman specializes in Forensics and Crime Scene Investigation.  In November of 2007 after completing School Resource Officer Certification Training, he was assigned to the Milton Area School District as its fourth School Resource Officer.  In January of 2008 S.R.O. Engleman graduated from the D.A.R.E. Instructor’s Academy.  In January of 2009 he completed the G.R.E.A.T. (Gang Resistance Education and Training) Instructor’s training in Philadelphia.  These instructor certifications allow SRO Engleman to teach these two excellent programs to our Elementary and Middle School students.
